Dr Christian Jessen

Dr Christian Jessen is the charismatic presenter of the BAFTA award winning television series 'Embarrassing Bodies' and the critically acclaimed 'Supersize V Superskinny' and multi award winning ‘Embarrassing Bodies: Live From the Clinic’. He has also presented ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ – a four hour live C4 fundraiser on behalf of Cancer Research, and ‘Drugs Live’ which he co-presented with Jon Snow. In 2014, Dr Christian also wrote and presented a one off documentary, ‘Undercover Doctor: Cure Me I’m Gay’ where he explored the motives and practices behind therapies that offer to change people’s sexuality.

He is also a highly recognizable media spokesperson and health campaigner, often giving talks at medical conferences and working closely with health charities to help find new ways to educate and raise awareness about important health issues His passion is to simplify, demystify, de-stigmatize and explain to the public the often complicated and inaccessible world of medicine.

Dr Christian’s previous television credits include, ‘Finding God’ where he worked with Jack Osborne during his travels through India, he has exhibited his culinary skills as the winner of ‘Ready Steady Cook’ (BBC1), shared his passion for antiques as winner of 'Antique Master' (BBC2) and has continually brought warmth and humour to programmes such '8 Out of 10 Cats', ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’, ‘Million Pound Drop’, ‘Celebrity Juice’, ‘Sunday Brunch’, The Sarah Millican Show and ‘Would I Lie To You?’ (BBC1). He previously hosted a phone-in clinic on topical debate show 'The Wright Stuff' (Five) and ran a weekly health club on Angela & Friends (Sky One). For Radio, Christian has guested on ‘French & Saunders’ (BBC Radio 2), British Forces Radio, and he has shared his passion for classical music on ‘Proms Live’ and ‘Essential Classics’ (BBC Radio 3).

Dr Christian is a health columnist for Closer, Top Santé, NHS’s Balance and Attitude and also hosts an annual magazine entitled ‘Ask The Doctor’. As an author, Dr Christian has written ‘Dr Christian’s Guide to Dealing with the Tricky Stuff’ (Scholastic 2015), ‘Dr Christian’s Guide to Growing Up’ (Scholastic 2013), 'Can I Just Ask?' (Hay House 2010) and 'Supersize V Superskinny' (Transworld 2008).

Graduating in 2000 from UCL, Dr Christian trained in general medicine, infectious disease, travel medicine and sexual health/HIV. He has lived in Kenya and Uganda where he researched malaria and HIV interactions in children and he now works on the world famous Harley Street in London, looking after general medicine and sexual health patients.

Dr Christian was born and lives in London. He enjoys foreign travel, working out in the gym, music and art. He is an accomplished oboist, performing publicly from time to time, and is a member of the Garrick Club and the Royal Institution.
